Summer's Over

Mont St. Bruno-woods

Summer came and went in a blink of an eye. Luckily, Lily and I were able to squeeze in a hike before she returned to school.  Since we never hiked together I decided the best option was to head to Mont St-Bruno national park about 25 minutes from Montreal.  It's not the most difficult hike, but it's one of the most scenic hikes I've been on.

Mont St. Bruno-hiking

Although the Mont St-Bruno national park, is quite small. Along your hike you'll pass by at least 5 lakes, a historic mill, and an orchard. We opted to do the intermediate trail which took us about 2.5 hours. It's a relatively flat trail, but gorgeous none the less. We spotted tons of families, joggers, and bird watchers. It's like an all in one national park. Did I mention you can even stop and have afternoon tea!

Mother nature seems to have a way of creating it's own art work.

On our way to the historic mill, we spotted a private property that basically had a garden full of giant sculptures.

Mont St. Bruno-mill bridge

We finally spotted the arched bridge by the mill.

And we were luckily enough to spot a bird.  People literally dropped what they were doing and whipped out their cameras.

And then this happened, I managed to snap this gorgeous picture. It was pure luck with the blinding sun in my face. I literally just pointed and snapped.

Talk about a zen moment. A lake with floating lilies.

    1. In Montreal, we're a little spoiled, an urban area surrounded by great national parks. You don't have to venture far to see a bit of nature.
